I normally buy Kellogg’s Raisin Bran on the time when I buy raisin bran cereal. However, a couple of weeks ago I accidentally bought Post Raisin Bran. Yesterday when my wife and I went shopping I made sure to buy Kellogg’s Rasin Bran for a taste comparison.
There was about 1/2 a bowl of Post Raisin Bran left, so I ate that and then opened the Kellogg’s box and ate 1/2 a bowl of theirs.
I found the Kellogg’s to be a little stronger in the bran flavor. But the Post box was almost two weeks old. When I go shopping next week I am going to buy another box of Post Raisin Bran and try to do a true side by side comparison.
At this point I can tell you two things:
1) I normally add extra raisins to my bowl. I buy Sun Maid Raisins and just about double the raisin count to a bowl of cereal. However, I did not do this during the taste comparison. In fact, the raisins themselves were of no importance. I can’t tell the difference.
2) As for the bran part of the cereal, Post does taste better when it gets soggy. That’s right. I noticed this last week when I had to put my bowl of cereal down and come back to it about 10-15 minutes later. The Post cereal had a real nice flavor. I tend to not like Kellogg’s Raisin Bran once it gets soggy.
I will have to revisit this issue, but I will come up with a definitive answer.
Say tuned.

To me the Post raisin bran is the better choice because it does not contain high fructose corn syrup.
